Firma Alexandra Sandels in partnership with Sharq.org and with support from the Swedish Institute launched in summer 2023 the new multi-lingual web platform Taboohat.org. The content on the site is available in five different languages, including Arabic, English and Kurdish and promotes women´s participation in politics in the Middle East and tackles social taboos in the region. The site is part of a larger pan-Arab media development project managed by Firma Alexandra Sandels and Sharq.org that aims to enhance the participation of women and youths in civil society and politics in Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Morocco and Libya. Throughout 2022, Alexandra has been managing a bi-communal media development project in Nicosia aimed at strengthening independent media and spurring cross-community dialogue in Cyprus. The project, an initiative by Sweden-based Fojo Media Institute run in partnership with the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot journalism unions has featured trainings and workshops for journalists on both sides of the divide on topics such as corruption, migration, environment and climate.
In 2021, Firma Alexandra Sandels partnered with Sharq.org and the Swedish Institute to develop a research paper that examines the challenges faced by Lebanon´s cultural workers and the country´s crisis-hit arts and culture sector.
