Analysis:

Alexandra writes on the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean on a regular basis for various publications. Some of her most recent work includes analyses on Russian influence in north Cyprus, the implications of Bashar Assad´s return to the Arab League, and the issue of migration in Cyprus.

Alexandra is currently conducting an evaluation of the Fojo Media Institute´s partnership programs in Africa and South Asia.

Alexandra currently evaluates candidates for a Swedish Institute leadership program and form part of the selection committee.

Firma Alexandra Sandels in partnership with Sharq.org have for the past two years been managing a pan-Arab media development project that aims to enhance the participation of women and youths in civil society and politics and strengthen effectiveness in this regard through transnational collaboration. Following a year of trainings and workshops with youth leaders from Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Morocco and Libya, we launched in summer 2023 Taboohat.org, a web platform with written and audiovisual content that tackle political issues and social taboos in the participants´ home countries. Strengthening the media sector in Cyprus

Spring 2022-end of 2022

Throughout 2022, Alexandra managed a bi-communal media development project in Nicosia aimed at strengthening independent media and spurring cross-community dialogue in Cyprus. The project, an initiative by Sweden-based Fojo Media Institute run in partnership with the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot journalism unions featured trainings and workshops for journalists on both sides of the divide on topics such as corruption, migration, environment and climate. As part of the project, participating journalists in the program researched and published investigative reports on the issues above.
